MORETON SAY ANNUAL PARISH MEETING
TUESDAY 11TH MAY 2010
AT 7.30P.M. IN THE CLIVE MEMORIAL
HALL.
MORETON SAY PARISH COUNCIL
Chairman’s Report 2010
The Parish Council has held four
regular meetings during 2009/2010, in addition
to the Annual Parish Meeting and the Annual General Meeting.
Ellen Robertshaw, our parish clerk,
elected to retire during the course of the year. She
has served the community for many years and we wish her well in the
future. We were fortunate
to be able to recruit Val Brown to take over Ellen’s
responsibilities ---Val is
presently clerk to Cheswardine
Parish Council and she has a lot of experience which I
am confident will served us well in
the future.
2090/2010 has generally been a
fairly quiet year for the Parish Council in terms of
local issues. There were some 12 planning applications approved
during the year with
the main focus being on developments
at Church Farm and Greenbank Farm. There
has also been further progress on
the Muller project with an application for a footpath
diversion now pending.
Moreton Say Parish has been included
in the Whitchurch and Prees Local Joint
Committee and, although there have been concerns about being joined
with
Whitchurch and Prees rather than
Market Drayton, the arrangement appears to be
working satisfactorily and the
parish has benefited from a grant to renovate the Clive
Hall.
2090/2010 saw the start of several
new initiatives which have emerged from the Parish
Plan ---There was a highly successful Flower and Produce Show and a
website for the
Parish is now full operational.
Further projects are planned once the Clive Hall
refurbishment project
has been completed.
The state of the roads in the parish
continues to be a matter of concern to many
residents. However, the resurfacing of the road between Longford and
Moreton Say
and
partial resurfacing of the road between Longford and Longslow
represent
significant progress. We have been
advised by Shropshire Council that significant works
on the road between Moreton Say and
the A41 will be completed later this year and
that this will include construction
of passing places. The winter weather caused
problems for the school transport
across the parish and representation has been made
to Shropshire Council regarding
gritting priorities.
The precept for 2010/2011 was set at
£6500. This represents a significant increase
over previous years as it includes provisional contributions to
Clive Hall and Moreton
Say School development projects. The
Parish Council continues to support the routine
maintenance of the church yard and
the Millennium Pool.
I would like to thank all the
councillors who have served during the past year for their
support and also to Val Brown and Ellen Robertshaw for their hard
work.

Cont.
CLIVE MEMORIAL HALL – update
The work is ongoing- have sent a
lottery grant application off, hoping to revamp the toilets
in August if successful with the grant. The kitchen will be the next
undertaking.
Urgent action had had to be taken
owing to the lead being stolen. The parish council has
agreed a grant.
MULLER
DEVELOPMENT
The footpath diversion application
approved with conditions. Planners asked to ensure that
larger trees were planted, access routes accessible
OTHER ITEMS
Proposed broiler unit – a PREAPP at
Vantage Farm, the following points have been raised.
Factual inaccuracy of parish involvement . size, visual impact,
environmental issues, how
will it impact on the school. How
will it be run? Contracted out? Accessibility from A41- the turn
of the A41 to The Drumbles is a
blind turning. Relationship between this and the Church
Farm application.
Public concerns :- nuisances;
smells, airborne diseases to free range poultry in the
vicinity. Access from the A41. Animal welfare. Although not opposed
to development but to
the nature of this development.
The public were advised to write to
Shropshire Council with their concerns..
Advisory signs – 30mph-
pointed out to the Council & police that these should be mandatory.
The Parish
council supports this.
There being no other business the
meeting closed at 8.00p.m
